Certificate in Foundational Linguistics
The certificate courses generally start mid-May and meet until the last Friday of July. The classes are five days a week, meeting in the mornings.
The Linguistics Department offers certificate courses in articulatory phonetics, phonology and grammar. These courses are designed to give participants the foundational tools in linguistic analysis. For participants wishing to enroll in the M.A. program in Linguistics at Payap University, the courses meet the prerequisite requirement.
Articulatory Phonetics [0 credits]. Introductory level study of human speech sounds, including recognition, production, and transcription using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).
Phonology [0 credits]. Introductory level study of the principles and methods of the analysis of linguistic sound systems.
Grammar [0 credits]. Introductory level study of basic linguistic analysis of the structure of words and sentences in various languages.
The fee for the Certificate in Foundational Linguistics is 7,500 THB (2500 THB per course) which covers tuition and in-class materials.
To apply, complete the Application for Foundational Linguistics Certificate, submit a short statement explaining why you are interested in taking the Foundational Certificate Course. The application should be submitted at least 8 weeks before a course start date, along with a copy of the name/information page of your passport. Email all materials to the address on the application.
